Pregnancy and Birth
Ina May Gaskin is the leading mid-wife in the US. She even has her own birth position named after her. Her book Guide to Childbirth changed the game for me. I read it early on during my pregnancy, and learned so much. The first half of the book is birth stories from tons of different women. The second half, Ina May breaks down birth and makes the reader think about it in a whole new way. This book is for any pregnant woman no matter how she plans to give birth!
The Birth Partner:
This is another great book for pregnancy. However, this one is for your husband or partner. I bought The Birth Partner for my husband when I was pregnant. He found it super helpful. The book covers everything your partner will experience while you are in labor. For example, when you’re saying, “I don’t want to do this anymore,” he will know you are most likely in transition, and have the tools to help you through. I highly recommend this book for anyone who will be present at your birth.
Hands down the best purchase I made while pregnant. Hypnobabies is a six-week home study hypnobirthing course. Hypnobabies provides women with the tools to have a healthy, positive pregnancy that leads into a healthy, positive birth. It reminds women birth does not just happen to us. We are not passive victims in the process. It’s perfect for the mom preparing for a natural, non-medicated birth who’s looking for a natural pain management technique, or for any woman wishing to reduce her fear surrounding birth. Read about my experience with Hypnobabies here.
Right now Hypnobabies is having a sale on both their digital and hardcopy home study courses!
Amazon Baby Registry:
If you haven’t started your baby registry yet, get started today on Amazon. Click on my link Shop Amazon – Create an Amazon Baby Registry to make your own. I used Amazon for my baby registry and I loved it. It’s best feature is the “Thank You Note.” Whenever a friend or relative purchases something from your baby registry it tells you who that person was and their address is they have a prime account or provide it. This came in handy so much! I found it difficult to keep things straight as gifts kept arriving in the mail. With the “Thank You Note” feature all you have to do is log into your account and see who bought you what! It’s glorious!
My Brest Friend:
This is my favorite nursing pillow. It helped my baby get the perfect latch every time, supported my back during each feeding, and made long nursing sessions comfortable. I recommend this nursing pillow to all breastfeeding moms. Breastfeeding in the beginning would have been a struggle if I didn’t have My Brest Friend.
Ina May’s Guide to Breastfeeding:
Another great book from Ina May Gaskin. In Guide to Breastfeeding she supplies you all the information you need to have a successful and happy breastfeeding journey. From the health benefits to the psychological benefits, she hits it all!
I use the Medela Pump in Style breast pump. It has been great for me. I use it several times a day, and have had no complaints. A great thing about this pump is that it fits my Lifefactory bottles so I can pump directly into them when I want to. I received my Medela Breast Pump free through my insurance. You can too! Baby Tracker App:
The Baby Tracker app keeps track of how long each feeding session lasts and how much time has elapsed since the last feeding. It has several other features, but those are the two I mainly used it for. The app allows you to keep track of feedings, diaper changes, sleeping, height and weight gain, and gives you the WHO’s percentile rankings. You can find it here.
This app was instrumental in helping me work out a schedule for my daughter, while building confidence in my ability to breastfeed. I used the app the entire three months I was on maternity leave.

How Not To Die:
This is an amazing reference book published by my favorite medical doctor, Dr. Michael Greger. Dr. Greger was instrumental in helping me discover natural ways to treat my PCOS and change my health. In How Not to Die, Dr. Greger discusses ways to treat and prevent many common diseases through diet we are led to believe are unavoidable. I own my own copy and use it on a weekly basis. You can also check out his website nutritionfacts.org.
To learn more about how I treated my ailment of PCOS naturally read How I Naturally and Successfully Treated My PCOS.
Berkey Water Filter:
Trust me you need this water filter. Unlike other filters, the Berkey Filter cleans out 99.99% of dangerous toxins in our water supply. It filters using gravity, so you don’t need to hook it up to anything. Plus, it can filter 3,000 gallons of water before a filter needs to be replaced! My husband and I own one of the stainless steel filters. We consume all our water from it, and wouldn’t dream of buying bottled water ever again.
However, the big Berkey Filters take up quite a bit of room. If you don’t have a ton of space you can purchase their Naples Naturals 10 Cup Alkaline Water Pitcher. This filter is more suitable for apartment living or perfect for a college dorm room. Click on my affiliate link to receive 10% off! Save 10% on Naples Naturals Alkaline Water Pitcher
GUNAS New York
GUNAS is an independent high fashion label. They produce high quality, gorgeous, 100% vegan handbags. If you don’t already know, I’m a semi-crunchy (maybe a lot crunchy) person, and I follow a vegan lifestyle. GUNAS is amazing because they produce bags appropriate for professional settings. Don’t get me wrong I love my cork, hemp, and canvas bags, but sometimes it’s good to carry something that doesn’t scream, “I’m crunchy!” I own their Cougar Backpack and use it to carry my laptop and other items for work. It keeps me looking polished and professional, while aligning with my vegan values. On top of that, GUNAS is 100% sweatshop free! So, Indulge in guilt-free fashion at GUNAS New York.
