Full price is the “F” word in my house. I hate paying full price for anything, and I never do. And guess what… you don’t have to either! Many people do not realize just how easy it is to save money on ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.
I’ve always been good at finding deals. It’s just in my DNA. Honestly, sometimes it’s finding the deal that’s more exciting to me than actually shopping. If a promo code exists I will find it, if an app exists I will download it, if a major clearance sale is happening I will know. I bargain hunt with the best. Whether it’s clothes, groceries, diapers, or anything else, I’m finding a deal.
Though I scour everything for the best deal, and I use countless apps to receive discounts at every store I shop in, I was skeptical of Ebates for a long time. So skeptical, in fact, I didn’t even look into it. Honestly, when I came across it, it seemed like those websites that make you believe someone bought a big flat screen tv for $10 in an online auction. However, what they don’t tell you is that you have to purchase money to use in those auctions. So, really you’re aren’t saving a lot of money.
I thought Ebates was something like that, or a rebate thing where you save money, but only if you jump through a thousand hoops afterward. I thought, “I don’t have time to go through that many steps, I’m too busy already.”
Finally, I broke down and decided to look into Ebates after I saw another blog I have tremendous respect for talk about it. I thought, “If she uses it and is promoting it, it has to be legit.” And let me tell you it is!
What is Ebates, and How Do You Use It?
First things first, because this is where I got so hung up, what exactly is Ebates? Well, Ebates is a third-party site that provides cash back on items you were already going to buy from stores where you regularly shop.
All you do is shop at the websites and online stores you were already going to by first going to ebates.com and then clicking through to the other site.
Or you can add the Ebates button to your browser. As you browse your favorite sites, Ebates will let you know if you can earn cash back through them on that site. A button will pop up on the top right of your screen letting you now how much cash back is available on that site. You click “Activate” then go on shopping how you were before. Super easy.
That Sounds Too Easy, What’s the Catch? What does Ebates get out of This?
This is where I constantly got hung up as well. The catch is, there is no catch. If you blog than you are familiar with affiliate marketing. If you do not blog, than affiliate marketing may be a new concept for you. Affiliate marketing is when a third-party person (in this case Ebates) promotes a product or website that is not their own. If purchases are made on the promoted site, the third-party receives a commission for driving that customer to their site.
In this case Ebates makes money for being an affiliate for all of these other sites. They drive you to the sites you were already going to visit (Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc.) and buy things from. Once you make a purchase, Ebates receives a commission. They then give you part of that commission in the form of cash back. So, really all three parties are coming out on top.
The retailer is winning because you are shopping on their site, Ebates is winning because they are receiving commissions for you using them to shop at these online retailers, and you are winning because Ebates in turn shares some of the commission with you.
When I think about it now, I kick myself for how long it took me to actually look into Ebates. You aren’t going to be saving tons of money on every shopping trip, but you will be saving some. Every little bit helps!
In addition, they make it super easy for you to explore new stores you may not have thought of before, and easy to find the best deals for the day and week.
Plus, You Still Can Use Other Promo Codes and Coupons
The best thing about Ebates is you are not limited to only receiving their cash back. You can still shop how you usually do using promo and coupon codes in addition to receiving cash back. Ebates is literally just another way to save a few dollars every time you shop.
How Do You Receive Your Cash Back?
Ebates pays you the cash back you accumulate in one of two ways. You may either have them send you a physical check in the mail, or they will pay you using PayPal. I use the PayPal method, but it’s completely up to you.
In order to receive your cash back payment you must accumulate at least $5.00. Once you accumulate $5.00 in your account you will then be paid on the next payment day. Ebates sends out cash back payments on the 15th of every month.
Start Using Ebates Today!
Seriously, if you shop online at all, start using Ebates today. I use it all the time and have saved over $100 in the last few months (like I said it’s not going to be tons of money, but I rather have that $100 than not!).
Click on my referral link here and receive $10 once you spend $25 on purchases you were already going to make. Full disclosure, I will receive a little something too, but that’s what Ebates is all about! Everyone helping everyone out and coming out on top!
